Step by Step Guide for Taking Part in the Starting Blocks Challenge

Step 1 - Identify your Starting Block

Remember and celebrate the positive person, place or moment that inspired you to become who and what you are today.

Step 2 – Set Your Distance

Work out the distance between where you are now and the place your story started.

Step 3 – Choose Your Sport

Run, walk, swim or ride the distance back to the place, moment or person where it all began. Do it in one go, over a period of time, in real life or virtually.

Step 4 - Get Ready to Fundraise

Set up your individual or team JustGiving page, or join an existing team, and share your challenge with the world. Money raised helps Dame Kelly Holmes Trust enable young people to become the best version of themselves.

Step 5 – Share Your Story

Share your story and your experience on social media using the hashtag #gobacktogiveback and encourage others to take part in the challenge.

About Dame Kelly Holmes Trust

The Trust was set up on the eve of the 2008 Beijing Olympics by Col Dame Kelly Holmes. Her ambition was to harness the unique skills of world class athletes to engage, enable and empower young people.

Our ongoing vision is that all young people should have an equal opportunity to be the best version of themselves. We train our athletes to use their experience gained at the highest levels of sport to mentor young people facing challenges in their everyday lives, and help unlock their potential.

Over the next 10 years, we will support 10,000 young people. Our programmes improve their wellbeing, help them build healthy relationships and establish the confidence, self-esteem and resilience needed to achieve in education, work and life.
